moveIT Software GmbH offers you a local new installation at a reasonable flat rate.

The quick and professional implementation is carried out by a technician from the moveIT software and is carried out using the remote maintenance tool Team Viewer.

If you install the program by yourself or through your own administrator, we ask you to read these instructions carefully and implement them step by step.

In this case, you install the program at your own risk! If, contrary to expectations, additional technical support is required, we would like to point out that corresponding support from a moveIT Software GmbH technician will be invoiced. We would be happy to advise you on the expected costs upon request.

UNC Pfad

We recommend using a UNC path instead of a network drive!

Path length and special characters

The local installation path may be a maximum of 30 characters long BEFORE our default path moveIT_ISS\data\db\issdata.

In addition, the local path must not contain any spaces or special characters!

This guide will explain the necessary installation procedures to you

Preparations on the server

Please refer to the “System Requirements” for the software and hardware requirements.

If the network protocol TCP/IP is not set up in your network, please contact your system administrator, as well as if you do not know the name and IP of your server.

To create a directory and enter the permissions, switch to Windows Explorer. Create the directory where you want to install moveIT ISS+. To do this, for example, create a new folder on the C:\ drive and name it "ISS" .

Now mark the new folder C:\ISS and click [right mouse button] [Properties] [Security tab] and here on the [Advanced] button.

In this new window, uncheck "Replace all permission inputs for child objects with inheritable permission entries from this object." if this is checked.

Now remove unnecessary entries and enter the people and/or groups who should work with moveIT ISS+.

Permissions on the network drive

You absolutely have to leave SYSTEM and administrators! It is essential that users have full access to this folder, subfolders and files. You can also use a domain group or the entry 'Everyone' here. Be sure to remove the “Creator/Owner” entry!

If there is a problem with permissions, you can have the settings "re-inherited" by ticking "All permission entries for subordinate objects..." in this window and then re-inheriting them. However, depending on the number of files, this can take a little longer because the permissions are rewritten for EVERY file. Therefore this should be done BEFORE setup.

Switch to the [Sharing] tab and click on the [Advanced Sharing] button. In this mask, check [Share this folder] and then click on the [Permissions] button.

• Add the respective groups and/or users in this window and make sure that all users require full access!

• Now connect this share (UNC \\servername\ISS\moveIT_ISS) as a network drive (e.g.: network drive M:\).

If no UNC path is used here, then this share must be associated with the same network drive letter on every client.

In our example, the network drive M:\ is used. You can use any free drive letter. However, this may no longer be changed after installation.

Network drive letter if no UNC path is used

The drive letter of the network drive must be assigned the same on each client.

If an antivirus program (e.g. MS Defender) is active (local computer, terminal server, database server and network clients), the antivirus exceptions must be set correctly!

If using a firewall, ensure that port 2501 and ports 3000 to 5000, TCP + UDP are enabled.

Installation of moveIT ISS+

The installation must be executed directly on the server!

Log in as a user with administrator rights.

You will receive the installation file Release_53.xx.xx.exe by email for downloading after ordering.

By double-clicking this file, you run Release_53.xx.xx.exe.

In the following window, select the desired installation language and confirm your entry with [OK].

The following “Welcome” window will provide you with information about the installation.

Click on the button [Next] to continue the installation.

In the window "Type of installation", "Setup" should now be set.

Click on the button [Next] to continue the installation.

In the “Setup Settings” window, the “Network Server” item must be selected. You can also select the desired language and country of your moveIT ISS+ version in this window.

If you would like to install the program in several languages, please check [Install additional languages].

For the network drive path you can enter the UNC path \\servername\iss\moveIT_ISS) directly, then the network drive does not necessarily have to be connected.

By default, port 2501 is suggested for the database port, but any other free port can also be selected.

If you don't want to, you can also enter a network drive path, but it must always be connected correctly.

Of course, you can still connect the share as a network drive, but this is not necessary to start ISS.

Otherwise, connect the share as a network drive and enter it. Please note, however, that if UAC is active, Windows will NOT automatically transfer network drives to other sessions! This means that the network drive is not present when you "Run the release setup as administrator", see also below.

Click the [Next] button.

If you have ticked [Install additional languages], you now have the option of installing the program in these languages.

Check the desired languages and then continue the installation by clicking on [Install].

Cache

The user temp is used for the work directory.

Disk space

Depending on how the system is used, moveIT ISS+ might need more space for master and user data for the future.

Therefore it is very important that you have enough space available on your computer.

To complete the installation, please click on the button [Finish].

The tool moveITDBControl is automatically installed on your server after the installation.
With this tools moveIT ISS+ databases can be startet and stoppes over a service. The database can thereby be started automatically while the server starts (without user’s interaction) and stopped when the server shut down.

You can start moveITDBControl by clicking the icon on your desktop.

The database was already added automatically with the database name "IssData".
As standard port the port 2501 is applied which is also indicated on the right side near the database name.

When you mark the entry in the list, below on the left you can check if the database is started (green) or stopped. (red).

If you want to start or stop only the database, you can start this with the buttons [Datenbank starten] [Datenbank stoppen].

During the installation, a start shortcut "moveIT ISS+" was created both on the desktop and in the Windows start menu with which the program can be started.

To log in, enter “ISS” for the user and password. For daily work with moveIT ISS+, we recommend creating your own user. You can find out how to create and set up your own user in the topic “Creating employees, clerks and users”.

After logging in, you will be asked to activate the license. This is done via the Software Protection Server

In order to be able to work with moveIT ISS+, it is necessary to install the master data of your trading partners. You receive current program updates and master data adjustments via the Live Update. Please note that all updates must be installed seamlessly and in the correct order! The respective minimum program version is noted directly with the update/adaptation.

Connect your client to your moveIT ISS+ network version

Connect the network drive with the same drive, which was used for the installation. Start the program iss.exe which is located in the installation directory.

For UNC path installation

For example, copy a shortcut to ISS.EXE on the desktop. To make the installation easier to access, we recommend connecting the UNC path on the client as a network drive. This means the user can simply run ISS.EXE via the network drive, create a shortcut, etc. However, the program itself is executed via the UNC path. The ISS itself does not need the network drive here. If it was installed on the network drive path, it must be connected in the same way on all clients, as the program will then be executed via this path.

Network Client Installation

After installation, we recommend connecting the individual clients to the server installation via a network client installation. This reduces the network load and problems that occur due to excessive network load can be avoided. In addition, the performance of your moveIT ISS+ application can also be improved.

Windows user account control

If UAC (User Account Control) is activated on the client and setup functions are executed via the network drive, connected network drives may not be selectable or visible during the moveIT ISS+ installation process, although they are correctly connected and available.

You can work around this problem as follows:

Copy the UAC_Admin_Netzantrieb.reg file (located under ClientToolsReg\) to the local computer and add it to the registry with a double-click. In Windows it is thus activated that network drives are also available if you start a program with "Run as administrator".

In order for this function to be activated, you must REBOOT your computer!

Otherwise the client setup (installation, Windows components, etc.) cannot be carried out.

If all Windows components are already available on the client, no client setup is carried out.

Back up your database at regular intervals, especially before installing an update. This can be done with a backup tool you already use.

Backup

The network database must be stopped before a backup is carried out and must be restarted after a backup.
